Salomon

Salomon beach is the first beach on your way out of Cruz Bay. It can be reached by hike or by boat. One way is to hike 1 mile from the National Park visitor center. It takes about 15 minutes. The other way is to hike about a half mile downhill from the national park sign right up the hill. There are no amenities here.

Honeymoon

Honeymoon Beach is a lovely white sand beach that can be reached via hike from the national Park visitor Center. About a 20 minute hike. Or from the national Park sign it is .3 miles. You can also take a golf cart from the parking at Caneel Bay and pay $12 round-trip per person. You are not permitted to walk in from Caneel Bay. There is a gift shop, snack bar and bar. All food is made fresh on site and they have great painkillers. They also have kayaks and cabanas, bathrooms and beach chairs for rent.

Caneel

Amazing beach! Once the home of the beautiful Caneel Bay Resort, which has yet to reopen since the 2017 Hurricanes. Now only the ZoZo's restaurant and the new Caneel Bay Beach club remain open. Check out the link for more options to visit caneel bay, they even offer cabana rentals for the day:) https://www.caneelbaybeachclub.com/

Hawksnest

Hawksnest is a great beach and there is parking right in front of it. It has great snorkeling and picnic tables if you want to have lunch there. There are outhouse toilets available.

Trunk

Trunk bay is by far the most famous and most photographed beach on the island. It appears on many postcards and it is beautiful. It is a long white sandy beach, sandy bottom and some nice snorkeling. It is the only beach that actually has full facilities including showers, bathrooms and changing areas, a snack shop, a gift shop, and a bar. This beach is five dollars per person to enter between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM. Avoid this beach on the days the cruise ships arrive in St. Thomas, it is a popular day trip for many.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon bay is the longest beach on the island, a beautiful white sand crescent shaped beach. They are currently working on rebuilding the campground portion of this beach. Good snorkeling! It is the favorite beach of Marisa's mom, Jill :) They also have ruins across the road from the parking lot, easy trail with lots to see.

Maho

Maho Bay is one of the prettiest beaches on the island and is usually the most calm. It is almost guaranteed you will see turtles at this beach in the middle of the bay as they like to munch on the sea grass that grows there. The parking area is immediately across the beach so it is very convenient if you do not want to walk far. Maho Crossroads Food and beverage opened recently and under normal circumstances they have a snack bar, bar, paddleboard rentals and bathrooms. There are also some picnic tables. One of Max and Marisa's favorite beach!

Frances

Frances Bay is the last sandy beach on the north shore of Saint John. It is a long crescent shaped beautiful beach with a view to Saint Thomas. Because of the direction it faces, it is usually always calm and receives no waves or currents. There is a national park out house but no other amenities. Not usually busy. Decent snorkeling on north shore of beach. Watch out for sand fleas lol!

Waterlemon

Waterlemon Cay is a 1 mile hike on a completely flat path from the parking area at the Annenberg Sugar ruins. It is mostly rocky and there can be a current in between the point and the Island. Please use caution. That being said there is some great snorkeling here and it is usually never crowded. There are no amenities here. MUST SEE for any avid snorkelers. Must be strong swimmer/bring flippers to snorkel around the island. Max and Marisa's favorite snorkel spot. There is also a short hike to Leinster Bay Ruins accessible from beach which is also very cool.

Haulover

Haulover has great snorkeling and is almost always extremely calm. It is rocky and you may want to wear water shoes. There are lots of sea urchins but the snorkeling is well worth it. No amenities.

Salt Pond

Salt pond is down a 5-7 minute path and is a large crescent white sand. It is also the entrance to the Ram head hike (Marisa's favorite), which is a great thing to do prior to settling on the beach. Great snorkeling, no amenities and not much shade.

Lameshur (big and little)

One is rocky, one is sandy, after rain the road can be impassible unless you have a Jeep. No amenities. A real adventure!!! :) Also a hiking trail nearby.

Our favorite trails:

-Ram Head (moderate difficulty) amazing scenic views at top and tons of cactus along the way! Pair with snorkeling at salt pond for an awesome day.

-Reef Bay (moderate-difficult), all downhill to start and all uphill on the way back. Pace yourself especially on a hot humid day. Bring lots of water and snack. Very cool mostly intact sugar mill ruins at bottom of hike. There is also a sandy beach to sit on to contemplate when to start your hike back ;)

Please bring proper footwear if you are wanting to do these hikes.
